Role Overview

The AWS Managed Services Engineer will provide ongoing cloud operations, monitoring, and optimization support for production AWS environments. This role focuses on proactive management of AWS workloads, ensuring uptime, cost efficiency, data protection, and recoverability—while assisting with migration activities and operational governance. The Managed Services Engineer (Mid-Level) is responsible for the operational governance of AWS workloads. This includes proactive management to ensure:

  • High uptime and operational efficiency.
  • Optimization for cost efficiency.
  • Robust data protection and recoverability.

The role also supports cloud migration and transition activities.

This position will work closely with customer and partner teams to maintain compliance, reliability, and performance across multiple AWS accounts and workloads.

Required Experience:

  • U.S. Citizenship Required
  • 4+ years of hands-on experience managing and supporting production AWS environments
  • At least one (1) Associate-level AWS Certification (Solutions Architect, SysOps Administrator, or Developer)
  • Experience performing 24x7 monitoring, alert management, and incident response using AWS CloudWatch, CloudTrail, and Security Hub
  • Experience configuring and maintaining AWS Backup policies, vaults, and restore validation procedures
  • Experience implementing and supporting AWS Elastic Disaster Recovery (DRS)—including replication health, staging area maintenance, and failover testing
  • Proficiency with cost monitoring and optimization (Trusted Advisor, Cost Explorer, Savings Plans, Reserved Instances)
  • Familiarity with AWS Application Migration Service (MGN) configuration, replication troubleshooting, and cutover testing
  • Strong understanding of networking concepts (VPCs, subnets, security groups, peering, VPN/Direct Connect)
  • Strong understanding of IaC tools such as AWS CloudFormation or Terraform
  • Experience implementing logging, metrics, and alerting solutions for operational visibility
  • Working knowledge of scripting languages (Bash, PowerShell, or Python) for automation or troubleshooting tasks
  • Strong communication and documentation skills—capable of reporting KPIs, incidents, and recommendations

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience with AWS Organizations, Config, and Control Tower for governance and compliance management
  • Strong understanding to DevOps or automation pipelines (CodePipeline, Jenkins, GitHub Actions) for deployment or configuration management
  • Strong understanding with Configuration Management tools such as Ansible, Chef, or Puppet
  • Experience with disaster recovery planning and compliance frameworks (e.g., HIPAA, SOC2, ISO 27001)
  • At least one (1) Speciality and/or Professional AWS Certification

Core Responsibilities:

  • Maintain day-to-day operational health of AWS infrastructure, ensuring uptime and performance across EC2, RDS, and supporting services
  • Proactively monitor alarms, logs, and metrics; perform incident triage, escalation, and resolution
  • Manage AWS Backup and DRS configurations, perform monthly restore validations, and conduct annual failover drills
  • Conduct monthly cost optimization reviews, providing actionable savings recommendations
  • Assist in migration and replication testing during the transition phase (VMC to AWS EC2)
  • Generate and deliver monthly operational and cost reports with performance metrics, incident summaries, and optimization insights
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure best practices for governance, tagging, and security compliance
